The new pluka machine was designed and manufactured in Britain by Dixi Products. Aimed at small scale poultry keepers, gamekeepers and butchers, this dry process plucker removes all feathers from dead birds in no time at all. The nine rotating plucker dishes gently pluck feathers and down from all bird species, doing a thorough job and making the process quick and easy with a minimum of hastle. With a little practice, we have plucked pheasants and partridges in around a minute, and the manufacturer has even tested the pluka on a goose with satisfactory results. After having been plucked, the feathers are sucked through the machine by a vacuum, and they can then be pumped through the 1.5 metre transparent flexi tube to be stored in a drum until you are finished plucking. It is then a simple job to empty the drum by removing the plastic bag and disposing of all feathers and down. The pluka is mounted on a powder coated steel tripod which provides stability and keeps the dishes at a convenient height of around 90cm. It can also be mounted on a work bench, and the feather collector container is provided with a bracket to aid in wall mounting. The Pluka is powered by a 0.5hp electric motor fitted with a 2m cable and a 5amp (fused) uk plug, and the high impact abs plastic mouldings are sure to provide years of hygienic service. The machine is quite noisy to operate, particularly when the cam vac feather collection drum is being used, so the pluka is supplied with ear defenders and goggles. All pluka products come with a year's warranty and a full range of spares and accessories are also available.
