The Solway Automatic Feeder has established itself as a valuable aid to both the full and part time gamekeeper responsible for feeding pheasants and partridges. The sturdy wooden legs are splayed open for extra stability, and the treated wooden materials make it ideal for sitting in water to feed ducks.
The spinner plate throws grain out to a diameter of 60 feet, and a horn sounds for 10 seconds before each feed. This "horn" feature can be disabled, and the feeder can scatter dirty wheat, pellets and barley.
The feeder's capacity is approximately 252lb (114kg) of wheat, and being made from polyethylene means that it is sure to have a long and waterproof life. For the same reasons, the spinner plate is made of stainless steel. The lid is easily tilted open and is secured internally with elastic bungee chord. A simple hasp can be padlocked shut, although we do not supply a padlock with this item.
The Digital Time Clock gives up to six feeds per day, and the amount of grain or pellets discharged at each feed is set to vary between 0-59 seconds per feed. Each second throws out approximately 0.5lb (250g) of wheat to a diameter of 60 feet. The clock shows 24 hour time, and the timer display goes to sleep after five minutes to save the battery.
The display can be easily seen in dark or poor light conditions. The time and feeding times are easily set using just four buttons. +, -, Mode and Test button.
We supply this unit semi assembled, and some screws need to be driven home before use. The clock runs on a 12v wet cell battery, and this is not supplied. We recommend that you use 12v 70-80ah leisure batteries for this item.
The timer and motor are protected by a 20amp/hr blade fuse.
We supply a variety of spares for this unit, including Spinner Plates, Aluminium Bosses, Auto Feeder Timers, Motors, Duck Baffles and an Extra High Output Motor Housing. As a special extra, we no longer repair worn out timers but Replace them with the newest and most advanced models.
