Side Mounted Horizontal Nipple

Unlike traditional drinker nipples, these horizontal nipples are spring loaded so that they work without a gravitational pull. The action of the bird's pecking wobbles the spring, which releases drops of water either into the bird's beak or down into the moulded drip guard beneath the nipple. This ensures that birds are provided with a reliable and hygienic water source without the risk of leakages.

Easy to fit and widely versatile, side mounted horizontal nipples are handy for a variety of different uses. These nipples are used in the Solway Hanging Nipple Bucket (horizontal).

Do not use electric or mechanical drivers to insert these nipples, only use firm hand tightness to make the seal.

An insertion tool is available at additional cost but is not essential.

Latest review:

Best water nipples ever, no leaks, and easy to install, most of my chickens (20) used it ,straight away, as they peck at the water and bump the silver plunger with there beak and get water so they do it again, then all the others follow. Fresh water, cool water in a bucket or pipe they are the best drinkers for chickens on the market.

What size drill bit do you recommend I use to fit these?

These have a tapered thread. Drill an 8.5mm hole and carefully & slowly tighten by hand. If you over tighten you will never be able to make a perfect seal. DO NOT USE AN ELECTRIC SCREWDRIVER/DRILL TO TIGHTEN.

I've just installed horizontal water nipples in the brooder (3 nipples, spaced 10", on PVC pipe). The chicks are 11 days old. They started out with a traditional waterer (shallow dish with inverted mason jar) and when I take it out of the brooder they don't seem to have any interest in the new nipples. I've attempted a variety of things to encourage them... ..."pecking" on it with my finger... ...even shining a red laser light on it... ...and still no interest. Any ideas?

The last thing you need to do is to shine any light particularly a RED LASER BEAM, this can put the chicks off almost permanently !!! The chicks are still quite young and will or rather should get used to your set up. But you must also supply water in conventional drinkers if you have any doubt that they are not getting enough to drink.

Can these be installed directly into a water pipe and work well under water pressure?

These are ONLY for use on very low pressure fittings. NOT MAINS PRESSURE
